Hartheim – When Did Your Last Rose Die? (Video & Audio)

Im Sommer letzten Jahres entdeckte ich die Band Hartheim aus Manchester. Ihren Song Welcome To Hartheim stellte ich euch Anfang Juli 2014 vor.

Kurz darauf führte ich ein Interview mit der Band, in welchem sie unter anderem ihre Namenswahl begründen. Eine knappe Woche nach Erscheinen des Interviews rief mich eine Vertreterin des Lern- und Gedenkorts Schloss Hartheim an und fragte mich nach den Kontaktdaten der Band. Ich war irritiert aber hilfsbereit.

Jetzt gibt es endlich neue Musik von der Band, und zwar in Form der großartigen Single When Did Your Last Rose Die?.

‘When Did Your Last Rose Die’ exists as the band’s warped attempt at a classic love ballad. The track confronts the down-spiralling correlation between passion and age; detailing the initial throws of young, boundless lust, and the slow descent into middle-aged hatred. It is this turn that serves their manifesto of playing with the contrast of light and dark, the once glacial guitars and swirling synth lines feeling more at odds with the lyrics as the track goes on.
